A Solution for Climate Pollution is an article by Patricia Smith from The New York Times. The article is about the citizens within Copenhagen, Denmark and how the city is getting people to convert how they use energy to reduce the amount of carbon in the atmosphere. The city uses seaward wind turbines to produce a lot of the city's power. They made bike ways three paths wide on occupied avenues, the ways are huge enough for the 43 percent of Copenhageners who routinely bicycle to work or school. Another train line opening this year will put most inhabitants inside a large portion of a mile of a train station. That will diminish the need to drive. To eliminate garbage, all condo structures now have eight distinctive reusing containers.This enables inhabitants to reuse however much as could be expected. Non Recyclable trash goes to an innovative incinerator. By 2025, the city’s means to produce enough spotless, sustainable power source to counterbalance the carbon it discharges into the climate. That carbon originates from its utilization of fossil powers and other contaminating vitality sources. The city converting their power use is a global issue because it shows that change is possible. It can help show other countries and large cities that is is possible to reduce the amount of pollution in the air.
This article applies to a few SDGs. It mainly applies to goal number 13: Climate Action. The pollution that big cities generate is extremely harmful to the earth. If nothing is done now it’s going to be even harder to save the planet, so the city of Copenhagen is making this change now it’ll convince other cities to also take a step towards change. This also applies to goal number 3: Good Health and Well Being. This is because any type of pollution that is created affects humans and their environment. Large amounts of carbon in the air is very harmful, so reducing the amount of it in the atmosphere assures citizens in the city has clean healthy air to breathe.
